Self-service arrives at the library

Forres Library is one of nine across Moray which have introduced self-service portals for the issue and return of books.

Moray libraries and museums manager, Alistair Campbell, said they were easy to use and “a great advantage to our part-time libraries and our principal libraries”.

Forres has been joined by Elgin, Aberlour, Burghead, Dufftown, Portknockie and Rothes in receiving funding from the Scottish Government’s public library funding quality improvement fund to enable the introduction of new equipment and associated training, which will allow staff to spend more time supporting library users.

It also allows Forres, Buckie and Keith libraries to maintain opening hours despite staffing levels being reduced.
