Monarch of the Glen was filmed by Ecosse films who made Mrs Brown and shown by the BBC. It was filmed over 7 years in Badenoch and Strathspey.

The fictional village of Glenbogle is made up by parts of all the villages and towns in the area. Walks in the forest, the hotel where Lexie's mother stayed and a nearby church are in Nethy Bridge; shops in Laggan and Kincraig; village hall in Carrbridge; town hall in Kingussie; tea rooms in Newtonmore and most of the filming took place on the estate in Kinlochlaggan.
