Lossiemouth has 2 beaches the East Beach and the West Beach both beaches benefit from having the softest golden sand you will find anywhere in the World. The East Beach also known as the Briggie Beach due to you having to cross a "brig" (bridge) to get onto it, is the setting for one of the best views in the UK (OK I could be a touch biast being a "Lossie Loon" myself). From Ramsay Mcdonald's lookout on Prospect Terrace(Ramsay Mcdonald was the first Labour Prime Minister and was also a "Lossie Loon"), the long golden peninsula of sand leading towards the miles of pine trees at Pitgavney Forest just takes your breath away. I have lived here for 37 years and I still stop and look at the view every time I pass it. It is also well known throughout the area for it's great surf, attracting surfers from all over the country. The West Beach also known as the Lighthouse Beach is another beautiful sandy beach favoured by some because of the car park right at it's start, where you can sit on a pleasant summer evening with a bag of good old fish and chips and watch dolphins and seals playing in the Moray Firth. It also runs along side the famous "Lossie Old Course" one of Scotlands oldest links golf courses.
