LINN FALLS - A WELL KEPT SECRET
It may not be a Niagara Falls or Angel Falls but the Linn Falls in Aberlour is a bonny little spot. Spectacular after heavy rain or in the middle of winter when the falls can freeze solid.
There is a flat level area next to the falls that is a lovely location for a BBQ (take care to use the rock circle well away from the trees) and also an ideal spot for Wild Camping ( always follow the Outdoor Access Code) PLEASE TAKE SPECIAL CARE TO TAKE ALL YOUR RUBBISH AWAY WITH YOU
The Falls are approached by leaving the Speyside Way at the Lour Burn, passing the old packhorse bridge and crossing the busy main trunk road. You will find the path (which is signposted) on the same side of the road as Aberlour Distllery (opposite bank of the Lour Burn)
It is easy walking but it can be muddy at times (after heavy rain which is ironically the best time to see the falls) You will find the flat grassy area just below the falls or if you feel energetic climb the steps at the side of the falls and you will eventually come to a picnic area. You can then return the way you came or carry on the path, beyond the picnic area, which will bring you out above the Lynn Brae houses. Get on to Chapel terrace and its downhill all the way to the Square.
