The railway station at Knockando was built in 1897 but wasn't actually opened until July 1899 because of controversy over its name

The station was situated at Burnmouth and the railway company had originally planned giving it that name but changed their minds giving the reason that this might cause the station to be confused with Bournemouth. It was finally decided to call it Dalbeallie. In 1905 it was renamed Knockando. In 1977 it was converted into a visitor centre for nearby Tamdhu Distillery
