Boat of Garten, established in the 1860's, prides itself with its Osprey Centre and Sanctuary. Ospreys were made almost extinct by 1899 and it was not until 1954 that a nest was located and kept secret, although birds had been seen flying from as early as 1936. Ospreys may also be seen regularly during the summer at Spey Bay.
