Highland Games are not just in the Highlands…

Highland Dancing

Misleading we know, but there you have it. You could actually go to a Highland Games almost 11,000 miles away from the Highlands, in Waipu, New Zealand. However, we digress, as this article is about Games taking place either in the Scottish Highlands, or very close by. You’re in the right place if you want to find out about Highland Games in Greater Speyside, an area with soft borders stretching from Inverness to Portsoy and down the Spey valley to Newtonmore.

You probably couldn’t find a more Scottish way to spend your day than choosing to visit one of the games listed below. Men in kilts tossing cabers, doing tug-o-war and hammer throwing. Highland dancing. Tasty Scottish food and drink. Field and track events, sometimes with a hill race thrown in for good measure. And bagpipes, of course.
